Prime Meridian Direct Pty (Ltd) is an insurance company, which is unique in South Africa due to it pioneering fixed premiums for the life for their customers, as well as paying no excesses on car insurance claims, when individuals purchase PMD's car insurance and life cover. PMD is also notable due to its origin. PMD was founded by Dr. Brian Benfield in 2009. Dr. Benfield is the author of the Life Assurance Company Management textbook and he was a visiting professor at the University of Witwaterand. PMD won carinfo.co.za's the Best Car Insurance Company award in the "Smaller" Companies category in 2014.
